And why does your doctor go with the name brand drug first? Dr. Howard Brody at UTMB tells KTRH that the generics work just fine. “They’ve been tested by the FDA to prove that they are the same. That’s why they are approved. If you look at it from a cost point of view, the generic would have the advantage,” Brody said.
