Dr. James S. Goodwin has been appointed vice president and chief research officer at UTMB. During the past 15 years at the helm of the UTMB’s Center on Aging, Goodwin increased its external research funding from approximately $1 million to more than $13 million yearly. His accomplishments include research projects that have received national and international attention. A recent study found that colonoscopies are considerably overused among elderly patients.
