Health care, manufacturing and the specialty chemical industry continue to be the hot areas of growth in the Bay Area. The boom in healthcare is evidenced in expansions, such as those at UTMB Specialty Care Center at Victory Lakes. UTMB is working on a $90 million expansion, slated to open in February 2015, to provide more services and convenience to patients within an "integrated system of care." The project will create 142,000 square feet of clinical space, 39 additional patient beds, 17 treatment rooms, four operating rooms, endoscopy rooms and 25,000 square feet of shell space for future development.
