HPV vaccination rates alarmingly low in Southern women, study says

Continuing coverage: Young women living in the South have much lower rates of vaccination against the human papillomavirus, HPV, than women elsewhere in the United States, according to a new study from researchers at UTMB. The findings are especially disconcerting because cervical cancer — which is caused almost exclusively by HPV — is more prevalent in the South than in any other region.
