UTMB is one of four Texas hospitals to receive the Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology designation, from the AAGL, formerly the American Association of Gynecologic Laparoscopists. The award is the highest level of laparoscopic gynecological expertise. In addition, UTMB’s Dr. Bernard Karnath has been awarded the Herbert S. Waxman Award for Outstanding Medical Student Educator by the American College of Physicians.
