M. Theron “Bujo” Waddell, a professor at Galveston College, details his UTMB experience in this guest column: Dr. Emmanuel Amulraj and his team at UTMB were everything anyone could ask for in physicians. He and his nurse practitioner, Barbara Parish, came by to check on me every day and sometimes twice a day. He gave us his card with his personal cellphone number and told us to call him anytime if we thought it necessary. That was also true of Ms. Parish. After surgery, my recovery was relatively rapid. I cannot begin to say enough nice things about the quality of care I received from the nurses and staff of the 9A staff at UTMB. I am especially appreciative of the care that registered nurses Christopher Brindley and Annie Chavez provided during their 12-hour shifts. Not only were they extremely professional, they were also genuinely caring about my health and well-being. There were a number of doctors and technicians who assisted me. I did not get their names, but UTMB should be proud of their service. [Note: Paid subscription required. Contact UTMB Media Relations for details.]
